This Week In Pro Wrestling Nov.27 - Dec. 2

I am here to write another blog and I once again apologize for not writing one in a while but our computer has been down and I have school and everything so please bear with me. This blog will be about what was supposed to be one of the bigger weeks for WWE as Survivor Series came up and as always, a huge week on wrestling shows usually follows up a big ppv which it did not. All that and more in this week’s blog.
Survivor Series (Nov. 27)
I was looking forward to this ppv for a couple of reasons. One being that one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, The Undertaker was making return where it really all began for him. The second reason was that 2 great wrestlers, that being HHH and Ric Flair were going to wrestle in a Last Man Standing Match. Other than that, I would call the show one of the worst shows I have seen all year, including TNA shows. They started out with a feud that I consider a rehash of the late ’90s in WCW as Booker T and Chris Benoit are going to wrestle in a best of seven series to see who is going to be crowned the Undisputed U.S. champ. Even though these guys had great matches in thier series in WCW, that does not mean that nearly a decade later, you will have the same outcome. I mean, first of all, back in 2003, they brought the U.S. title back. The U.S. title carries a rich heritage of greats who have held it in the NWA and WCW. The greats that have won it now in the WWE. NONE NONE NONE! Not a single wrestler who has held that title in WWE is becoming a great nor using it as a launching pad for young mid-card talent to push themselves to main event status. You might say there are 2 greats that held it in WWE that being Chris Benoit and Eddie Guererro. Let’s get 1 thing straight, not to be crucial or anything but Eddie only won that belt because creative had nothing good for him at the time and that was the only way he would stay on television or be released. But, I am glad to say that Eddie, a few months later, won the WWE title. Now Benoit, one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in the last few years, won the U.S. title to just stay afloat because ever since he lost his World Title, he has been on a downfall on a creative standpoint because just like Eddie in 2003, this is Benoit’s only way to stay on television. Now if you read my WWE homecoming blog, you already know how I feel about Booker T. These guys are really fighting to be the Undisputed U.S. Chump in my opinion. WWE then follows that up with a Women’s Title match and then a GM match. Now, who is reaaly entertained by a GM match. 2 old guys that have barely wrestled or wrestled a single match in their careers. GIVE ME A BREAK WWE! The Last Man Standing match may go down as one of the best matches of 2005 as HHH and Ric Flair wrestled a bloody and entertaining match. Ric Flair really proved his resiliency and greatness as he would not stay down for a 10 count after 3 pedigrees and had HHH nearly beaten a couple of times in the match. But, HHH proved why he is called The Game as he beat the dirtiest player in the game and I believe Ric Flair really passed the torch to HHH in this match. The WWE Title match wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. The 10 Man Tag Match wasn’t bad either but what entertained me the most was what happened after the match. The Deadman returned with a vengeance and cleared the whole ring of Smackdown stars that were celebrating with Randy Orton. Now, here are the results for Survivor Series.
Survivor Series
Booker T def. Chris Benoit (Match 1 of a best of 7 series)
Women’s Title: Trish Stratus (champ) def. Melina
Theodore Long def. Eric Bischoff
Last Man Standing: HHH def. Ric Flair
WWE Title: John Cena def. Kurt Angle
10 Man Tag: Team Smackdown(Batista, Rey Mysterio, JBL, Randy Orton, and Bobby Lashley) def. Team Raw (Shawn Michaels, Chris Masters, Carlito, Big Show, and Kane)
Nov. 28 Raw
Many people say that you should always have big follow ups to ppvs and I agree with them but after watching this show, obviously WWE doesn’t think so. They had a guy that looks out of shape named trevor Murdoch beat a talented young kid named Shelton Benjamin and the only biggest news of the night was if Eric bischoff’s goal of seeing Cena lose his WWE Title in a triple threat submission match, he would be fired next week and they had Cena choke out Masters with an STF and now we will have to watch and see if Bischoff is fired or not. Here are the results for this edition of Raw.
Raw
Trish Stratus, Mickey James, and Ashley def. Torrie Wilson, Candice, and Victoria
Trevor Murdoch def. Shelton Benjamin
Shawn Michaels def. Carlito
Kane and Big Show def. Tyson Tomko and Snitsky
WWE Title Triple Threat Submission: John Cena (champ) def. Kurt Angle and Chris Masters
Smackdown
This was not that great of a show as Boogeyman made his in ring debut and there was no big promotion behind his match. They had Orton walk all over Matt Hardy is better off leaving WWE and going somewhere else because ever since his feud with Edge is over, people have lost interest in him big time. The real big announcement of the night was that The Undertaked played mind games with Orton for awhile and then announced that they would meet in a Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon. Now here are Smackdown’s results.
Smackdown
Boogeyman def. Simon Dean
Chris Benoit def. William Regal
Super Crazy and Psicosis won a tag team battle royal
Bobby Lashley def. Sylvan
Kane and Big Show def. Rey Mysterio and JBL

Hi Scott,
I agree with your take on the Benoit-Booker T U.S Title soap opera. Why not let Lashley or Kennedy run with it?
I also look forward to your perspectives on wrestling with Eric on his Pro Wrestling Radio Show. Keep up the good work!
