This Week In Pro Wrestling Oct. 1-7

I am so sorry for all you people that visit my blog about me not getting out a blog in the past couple of weeks. I have just been so busy with school and sports its just that I have not had time so I am very sorry. October 1-7 might be the biggest week in prowrestling all year because of a couple of reasons. For 1, Raw went back to USA for Raw homecoming on Oct.3 and TNA debuted on Spike tv on Oct. 1. Smackdown didn’t seem to bring much excitement into this week but just those 2 reasons gave this week in pro wrestling a very good week. Now, lets run down all 3 shows. One more thing, I dont have any results for these shows so I apologize very much.

TNA Impact debut Oct. 1
This was it. Possibly 1 of tyhe biggest nights in TNA’s short history. Their debut on Spike tv. This night was basically do or die time for TNA because if this thing on Spike tv does not go very well, we might as well just say good bye to TNA. In their short history, they have barely turned a profit. When they first started, they had no tv deal and ran weekly ppvs that were costing them a lot of money. Then they got a show on FSN except they were paying for the air time. When FSN kicked them off the station earlier this year and WGN backed out of negotiations with TNA for them to do a show on WGN, I thought TNA was dead right there. At the time, they were going into a summer full of ppvs and no tv deal or show to promote those shows. TNA looked like it was on life support though as they aired their Impact tapings on their website tnawrestling.com. Still though, with no tv deal and all of these ppvs coming up and basically every single station has their fall lineups ready, TNA looked like a business that was going belly up. Then out of nowhere, it was announced that Spike tv was going to air TNA Impact. A month of promtion for TNA’s big night was over as October 1 dawned. The time for excuses and promotion was over. It was SHOW TIME! I am preety sure that the executives of TNA told all the wrestlers that were performing on the show were told to go out there and defy the critics by giving it their all and to turn out 1 heck of a show. In my opinion I dont know about you, I think they turned out a great show for all the time that they had. The 3 way between Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, and Alex Shelley was the best match on the card. They looked like they were giving it their all especially when Willams was on the outside floor and Sabin was standing on the second rope and Shelley flew through Sabins legs onto Willams on the outside floor and then how Sabin did a moonsault onto both competitors on the outide floor and smashing his ankles on the steel barricade in the process. Their 1 flaw was having Jarret come out. For 1 thing, I just dont like watching Jarret at all. He is 1 of the executives in TNA and whenever you turn on a TNA show, he seems to be holding the world title. This hate is not a wrestling fans hate where I go out and hold up a sign at a TNA show saying JARRET SUCKS!. I just cant stand seeing him because he is like Dusty Rhodes from the 80’s, he always has to be in the spotlight no matter how much people dont want to see him in the spotlight anymore. All in all, I do believe they turned a decent show for all the time that they had. Good job TNA and keep working hard and I can gurantee, people will get more interested and more people will watch you.

WWE Raw Homecoming Oct. 3
It was time for Raw to start anew on USA with them airing Homecoming. They kicked off Raw with a very good Piper’s Pit with Cowboy Bob Orton and Piper, 2 best friends frome the 80’s going at each other and having a match on Smackdown to cap it off. The Austin-McMahon feud seemed to come back also. We may have seen this feud before for a couple of years and you may not want to see it anymore but if Raw wants to get on the right foot on USA, they might have to go back to what worked before and you cant say the Austin-McMahon feud was not possibly the best feud ever in WWE. It made a ton of money for WWE at the time and turned Stone Cold’s character into the 1 that sold the most merchandise in history. WWE might be bringing in great ratings but as far as I know, they are not bringing alot of revenue in so going back to a feud that turned a huge profit for your company a couple of years ago might not be that bad of an idea. The Angle-Michaels Iron Man match seemed to be the best 1 on the card because you have 2 of the best athletes in the business going at it for a full 30 minutes of action, you cant really go wrong with something like that. Especially the ending where Michaels did a moonsault onto Angle and how Angle rolled it over into the Ankle Lock and then with just seconds remaining Michaels nails the superkick and cant cover him in time ending the match at a draw of 2-2. There were some of the industries greatest wrestlers of all time sitting at rinside and I have to think that they were nothing but impressed with that match, especially the ending. It looked like ballet. It was so seamless. The ladder match was also good pitting Matt Hardy against Edge with the loser leaving Raw. Hardy lost and we can expect him to either go to Smackdown or TNA. Raw scored an overall rating of 4.7 and their highest rated segment being the Austin McMahon feud segment scoring a 5.0 during that segment. All in all, Raw turned out a great show also and my hat goes off to both TNA and Raw for both of their very entertaining shows.

Oct. 7 Smackdown
There was nothing that exciting happening on Smackdown this past week so there is not that much to write about. They obviously built up their way towards No Mercy and accelerating both of their main events, those being the handicap casket match pitting Randy and Cowboy Bob Orton against The Undertaker and their World Title match pitting defending champ Batista against Eddie Guererro. One quick thing I do want to talk about though is Booker T. What is up with his character? He seems to be hooked onto how he held WCW’s World Title 5 times but how much do you think that WWE fans care about Booker’s past accolades in a promotion that has been dead since 2001. He held thetitle during WCW’s dying days so it is not very impressive when you are like a last resort for the company to have a champion. He would do muck better for himself if he would just quit WWE and go work for TNA. He would probably do better there in about 2 months than he did about 4 years with WWE. Really Booker, nobody cares anymore abouyt how you held the WCW World Title 5 times anymore. So get rid of that or just do us all a favor if you cant let it go and get out of WWE.

I would just like to thank all of the people who have dropped comments for me so far and I encourage more people to do so.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE!
